They say working in an office isn’t for everybody and I thought I was one of those people but twentysix isn’t like any office I’ve been to before.
Let me introduce myself, I’m Holly and I’m in my first year of a Media and Marketing degree at Leeds Trinity University. I’m with twentysix on a six week placement which is part of my course and after nearly completing my first year of university I thought I’d learnt a lot about marketing. Then after my first day at twentysix I realised how little I knew and how much there is to learn.
As a student I’ve heard the horror stories about what it’s like on placement, making cups of coffee for the whole office and doing the filing for 7 hours. But so far I’ve already had many more opportunities than I expected to get involved with. I’ve had the chance to be involved in brainstorming sessions for new ideas for clients such as mobile apps and I’ve been involved in creating research presentations for clients.
Wanting to get involved with as much as possible while I’m here I’ve been invited to meetings allowing me to see all the ins and outs of how the digital world works showing me things that I could never learn just from being at university. In meetings I’ve been able to see how new idea’s come to life and to see what goes on behind the scenes.
Working with client services I’ve been involved with researching different market areas and by far the scariest part of being here; meeting and greeting clients however I was more than happy to be involved with that side of the company.
Thinking I’d get lost within the crowd I was surprised to see how closely everyone here works together. The atmosphere is great to work in and everyone is so friendly I instantly felt at home. I think the best part about working at twentysix is that the people here love what they do, and they are actually interested in media and what’s next. It would be a great opportunity to anyone who is interested in this area of work to get experience and to start somewhere. It’s a fast paced company that keeps up with the newest trends in advertising. I would definitely recommend twentysix to anyone wanting to get involved in the digital industry.
